There are three types of spaces: open spaces separated by curtains, sound-proof rooms (each W3.1×D1.76× H2.15m), and rooms simulating home living rooms, that can be used for a variety of purposes depending on what is needed. Each space is provided with a recording camera so that behavior observation can be performed offline.         [Electromagnetic shielding box] Blocks/reduces external electromagnetic waves and increases the accuracy of electroencephalography measurement. It can also be used for experiments in silent environments because of its sound-blocking abilities.   [Eye-tracking Equipment] Allows accurate measurement without restraining the infant’s head. Depending on the visual and auditory stimuli emitted by the monitor, it is possible to measure where infants are looking at a given time. There are: (1) mounted types, (2) portable types (three, including ultra-small), and (3) spectacle types. Since the portable type is operated after attaching it to a laptop computer, it is possible to take it to the subjects’ homes, nurseries, hospitals, etc., to conduct surveys. Since there are two spectacle types, it is also possible to measure where the other person is looking during communication. (1)Mounted types (2)Portable types (3)Spectacle types   [Electroencephalography instrumentation] Measures the brainwaves of infants and adults. Brainwaves can be measured from 64 sites on the head (64 channels). The channels are connected by strings, so it is easy to set it up simply to be worn like a hat. This simplicity is essential for infant and toddler research, in which measurement must be performed in a short time. The electroencephalogram measurement room is equipped with a television and speakers, and it is possible to measure infant and adult brainwaves with audiovisual feedback.       [Physiological index measuring equipment] Systems that can record biological signals of infants/adults, such as electrocardiograms, electromyograms, electrodermal responses, pulse waves, and respiration, during audiovisual experiments, with the integrated data recorded to a computer. The recorded waveform can be monitored in real time with the software “AcqKnowledge”, and signal analysis can be carried out with functions and frequency analysis.         [Polygraph] A system that can record biological signals of infants/adults, such as electrocardiograms, electromyograms, electrodermal responses, pulse waves, respiration, during audiovisual experiments and while infants are sleeping, with the integrated data recorded to a personal computer.       [Wireless electrocardiometer] The heart rate of infants and toddlers can be measured wirelessly. This equipment is useful to observe infant’s and toddlers’ movement in a natural setting in some observation studies. In particular, this equipment is indispensable for observation/heart rate measurement during communication.       [Portable NIRS cerebral activity meter] Examines and measures the cerebral activity of infants and adults through hemodynamics. In addition, the effects of bodily motions can be reduced with wireless transmission of signals.   [Handy auditory testing instruments] Instruments for auditory examination, such as otoacoustic emissions (OAE), which can be used with a wide range of participants from infants to adults.   [Wireless electroencephalogram] A wireless-type electroencephalogram with low levels of motion artifact. This is suitable for experiments with infants and toddlers, because the frame can be custom produced. It can also be applied to perform electromyography and electrocardiography with different shapes of frames.
