Inpatient Surgery As an “Advanced Treatment Hospital” designated by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), Tohoku University Hospital is responsible for the mission to provide and develop advanced healthcare, and to conduct clinical training. As a part of the mission, we perform organ transplantations for end-stage organ failure, including heart, lung, kidney, liver, intestine and pancreas, which are not performed in other medical institutions. Organ transplantation must be urgently performed before the function of donated organ begins to deteriorate. For acute liver failure, an immediate transplantation is required even if the liver is donated by a living-donor. We make maximum efforts to perform as many scheduled operations as possible. However, the urgent operations aforementioned often take more than ten hours and cannot be performed simultaneously with other operations. Thus, we may need to postpone your scheduled operation. You will receive full explanations from your doctor about the delay, and your operation will be rescheduled. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Prescription Drugs Please make sure to bring all your prescription drugs, medicine notebooks and medication instruction sheet. Show them to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist upon your admission. They will review your medications to lower the risk of drug interactions and to eliminate duplication or unnecessary drug prescriptions. All drugs prescribed inside and outside our hospital, over-the-counter drugs, including ointment, patch, eye-drops, inhaled medicine, suppository, injection, and enteral nutrition will be the subject for review. Please inform us if there is any medicine that you are currently not taking, or if you bring new medicine in while staying in our hospital. 1-1 Seiryo-machi, Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi, 980-8574, Japan TEL: +81-22-717-7000 (reception) Google Maps Links Site Map Privacy Policy About this Site © Tohoku University Hospital.
